The dorm was too small. The tension was too high. And the rules… well, some were meant to be broken.

Chapter 1: One Room, Two Bodies
The university housing office had screwed up. Badly.
When Liam’s step-sister, Ava, transferred to his school last minute, they were promised separate rooms. But thanks to an overbooked dorm, they were shoved into a single—tiny—room meant for one.
“Looks like we’re sharing,” Liam muttered, tossing his duffel bag onto the bare mattress.
Ava bit her lip, surveying the cramped space. The room was barely big enough for two twin beds, a shared desk, and a dresser. Privacy? A joke.
“We’ll make it work,” she said, though her voice wavered.
They weren’t strangers—their parents had married two years ago—but they’d never been close. Liam was the brooding, athletic type, all sharp jawlines and quiet intensity. Ava was the brainy, sweet girl next door, with curves that made heads turn whether she liked it or not.
And now they were stuck together.
Chapter 2: The First Night
The first week was awkward.
Changing clothes meant one of them had to turn away. Late-night study sessions meant whispered arguments over the desk lamp. And then there was the shower situation—the communal bathrooms down the hall meant walking back in nothing but a towel.
Liam tried not to look. He really did.
But one night, after Ava came back from the showers, her damp hair clinging to her shoulders, her body wrapped in just a thin towel, he couldn’t help it. His gaze flickered down—just for a second—but it was enough.
Ava caught him.
Instead of getting mad, she smirked. “See something you like, step-bro?”
Liam’s jaw tightened. “Don’t.”
“Don’t what?” She took a step closer, the scent of her vanilla body wash filling the space between them. “Don’t tease you? Or don’t make you admit you’ve been staring?”
He should’ve walked away. But the way her lips curved, the way her chest rose with each breath—it was too much.
“You have no idea what you’re playing with,” he growled.
Chapter 3: Breaking the Rules
The tension between them became unbearable.
Every accidental brush of skin. Every lingering glance. Every time Ava stretched in those damn sleep shorts, Liam’s self-control frayed a little more.
Then, one stormy night, the power went out.
The room was pitch black except for the occasional flash of lightning. Ava let out a startled gasp when thunder cracked overhead.
“You scared?” Liam teased, though his voice was rough.
“Shut up,” she muttered, but another loud boom had her scrambling toward his bed.
Their bodies collided in the dark—her soft curves pressed against his hard chest. Liam’s breath hitched.
“Ava…”
Her fingers curled into his shirt. “We shouldn’t—”
But they did.
His mouth crashed onto hers, hot and demanding. She melted into him, her hands sliding up his chest as he backed her against the wall. The storm raged outside, but inside, the heat between them was unstoppable.
Clothes were torn off. Moans were muffled by desperate kisses. And by the time the power flickered back on, they were tangled in his sheets, breathless and guilty—but not nearly guilty enough.
Chapter 4: What Happens Now?
The next morning was… complicated.
Ava couldn’t meet his eyes. Liam ran a hand through his hair, trying to figure out how to fix this.
But then she looked up, her lips still swollen from his kisses.
“Last night…” she started.
“Shouldn’t have happened,” Liam finished.
But the way she bit her lip told him neither of them believed that.
Because some lines, once crossed, couldn’t be uncrossed.
And their shared room just got a whole lot smaller.
